So lately, I've been staying up past midnight...and I get the strangest cravings for something sweet, or a delicious snack to satisfy my sweet tooth. I don't have the energy to go anywhere and buy something, so I get this crazy idea, that since I have boxes of cake, and instant cookie dough in the fridge, I can bake some goods and save myself the money. So I get all the stuff out, and do what I need to do for my baked goods, and then I pop them into the oven. Sounds easy, right? WRONG!!!
The weirdest thing. I, for the life of me, get so excited for my goods, but then I can't manage to stay awake long enough to hear the timer go off. Sometime between my excitement in baking, and mixing the ingredients, or simply putting the cookie dough on the cookie sheet, and into the oven...somewhere along those lines...I lose it! I completely pass out into a deep sleep, long enough to burn whatever it is I'm making. But I don't sleep longer than 30 minutes past the time I was suppose to pull the cookies or cake out. I always wake up to the echoing sound of the persistent microwave timer. Good grief Charlie Brown...I swear...I must have narcolepsy! How can I be so hungry one second, and then so sleepy the next second. It's just so sudden.
I thought this picture I found online described my exact feelings, and looked remarkably similar to my burnt cookies of 3 nights ago. So enjoy the image of me looking like this late into the night.
Now, you might think, it's no big deal. But after it happens one night, you would think that I would learn my lesson...right? WRONG AGAIN! I try for a second night in a row...and I fail miserably again. So on the third night in a row...I skip the baking, and resort to stopping by the local 7-eleven, to pick up a few pastries to satisfy my sweet tooth that hits when the clock strikes 12 midnight. But now, here I am making chocolate covered strawberries on the fourth night (MMMMMmmmm...chocolate covered strawberries. I don't even really like chocolate all that much...but for some reason I do love chocolate covered strawberries. Go figure?!?!).
Luckily I don't have to bake these, so I wont have to worry about over cooking them. Phewf. But in the process, and my horrible ability to understand the art and laws of melting chocolate, I over heated and over cooked the chocolate. I always manage to mess up whenever I make something that includes chocolate. I had to throw away like half a bag of chocolate chips. RiDicUloUs!!!! Come on Gio!!! Sheesh...
I think I'll just have to take a break from midnight baking, until I figure out my way around this curse of narcoleptic midnight baking behavior.
